The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) review meeting was held today at the Circuit House in Tura chaired by MP Saleng A Sangma.
The meeting aimed to review the progress of various development schemes and programs in the district.
Sangma stressed the importance of effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes at the grassroots level, ensuring people receive intended services. He thoroughly reviewed each project, scrutinizing progress and outcomes, and sought detailed explanations from officials.
The meeting addressed various issues, including fraudulent MGNREGS job card enrollments in Demdema Block, which are under investigation. Sangma also raised concerns about a sudden increase in residents in certain regions, potentially due to illegal migration from Bangladesh, and requested an investigation.
The meeting featured presentations from various departments and agencies on schemes related to employment, agriculture, social welfare, health, infrastructure, and tourism. Tura Municipal Board and PHE, Tura Division & Tura North Division highlighted the Swachh Bharat Mission, Jal Jeevan Mission, and other urban development schemes.
Preparations for the upcoming Garo Labour Corps Day celebrations on July 16 was also discussed, with a committee set up for temporary celebrations at the same place, followed by proceedings at the district auditorium.
