The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) has filed a FIR against a person involved in illegally collecting money by operating a weighbridge cum forest checkpoint at Sonapur and a forest beat office at Ratacherra.
The organisation, substantiating their claim with information obtained through the RTI, stated that one Sevenborn Tang has been collecting money in the name of the forest revenue station of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
HITO said the individual was not authorised or appointed by the forest department of the JHADC, as revealed in the RTI on July 4.
“These two illegal checkpoints were operated in the name of Tang who claimed himself as the agent of the JHADC without any proof of documents and has not obtained any no objection certificate from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, National Highway Authority of India or the State PWD department,” HITO said demanding strict action against such illegalities.
