The 1st Northeast Social Work Conclave 2025, organized by the Indian Awaz Foundation in association with the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) was held at PD Hall, Gauhati University, on the occasion of International Social Work Day on March 18.
The conclave provided a platform for students, professionals, policymakers, and changemakers to engage in discussions on the evolving role of social work, the significance of formal education in the field, and the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in sustainable development.
The conclave featured thought-provoking panel discussions, expert-led sessions, and interactive engagements, bringing together representatives from social work institutions, NGOs, corporate CSR leaders, and academicians. Key sessions focused on the growing need for professional social workers, CSR investments in the Northeast, and innovative approaches to social impact.
One of the most powerful moments of the conclave was the Pledge Wall Activity, where delegates committed to being agents of positive change.
The event marked the beginning of an annual movement to recognize and empower social work professionals across the Northeast, ensuring greater collaboration and impact in the years to come.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTR, Pramod Boro, Wilson Hasda, Executive Member, Md Nazim Ahmed, and Founder & Director of Indian Awaz Foundation spoke at the event.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Work, Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), observed the day with a series of insightful discussions and cultural engagements, aligning with this year’s theme, “Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing.”
The event was attended by faculty, students, and distinguished guests, underscoring the critical role of intergenerational collaboration in fostering sustainable development and social harmony.
The program began with Master of Social Work (MSW) students delivering a thematic presentation through song and slides, highlighting core social work values. The key highlight of the event was a panel discussion, featuring eminent personalities from academia and the social sector.
As part of the celebrations, students across disciplines participated in an extempore speech competition and cultural performances aligned with the theme. An interactive Q&A session further enriched the discussions, allowing participants to explore various dimensions of intergenerational solidarity.
The programme concluded with an awards ceremony, recognizing the outstanding contributions of participants.
