The All Meghalaya Dancers Association (AMDA) has urged the State government to open its doors and listen to their grievances and problems.
The association said dancers have been seeking assistance from the government to provide opportunities for talented youth to showcase their skills on larger platforms, both within and outside the state and country.
“We’ve been patient for a long time, since the tenure of DD Lapalang and Dr. Mukul Sangma as chief ministers of our State. We appeal our present Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, to consider our request. Our association has lost hope and is weakening, and we eagerly await your response,” AMDA president Kitbok Thabah appealed.
Stating that AMDA has worked tirelessly since 2000 to promote young, talented youth in various fields, including singing and dancing, Thabah said their mission is to guide and support these individuals in achieving a bright future.
He cited the example of Steve Jyrwa, winner of India Best Dancers – Season 4 and said there are upcoming dancers and singers who gained stardom and brought laurels to the state through his dancing talents on a national platform.
“We urge the government to take our grievances into cognizance and make our dreams a reality,” Thabah said.
