The Meghalaya unit of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) will participate in a national two-day strike from March 23 to 25.
Convenor of the Meghalaya unit, Wanraplang Mawroh, said today that UFBU comprises nine bank unions representing more than 8 lakh employees of public, private, foreign, cooperative and regional rural banks.
The forum is demanding adequate recruitment in all cadres, regularisation of all temporary employees, implementation of the five-day work week, immediate withdrawal of the recent directives on performance review, etc.
UFBU claims that the performance reviews will threaten job security, create division and discrimination. It also wants safety of bank workers from assault by “unruly banking public”, fill up of vacancies, increase the ceiling of gratuity, stop outsourcing permanent jobs, etc.
