Alert personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya intercepted a vehicle loaded with a significant quantity of sugar and apprehended an Indian national near the international border in South Garo Hills.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, troops of the 144th Battalion foiled a smuggling attempt and seized the sugar-laden vehicle (a white Eco van). The sugar was intended for smuggling across the border, the BSF said in a press release today. During questioning, the driver failed to produce any valid documents for the sugar consignment.
The seized goods, along with the apprehended individual, were handed over to Baghmara police for further investigation and necessary legal action.
