As part of the initiative, the traffic police conducted inspections of vehicles violating traffic regulations and distributed helmets to children, men and women riding two-wheelers. The police also extended their checks to ensure compliance with helmet use and seatbelt regulations to enhance road safety.
District Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh Rathore stated that the campaign aimed to educate the public on the importance of traffic laws. He highlighted that negligence often leads to unfortunate incidents, impacting drivers and passengers alike.
He further added that this initiative is also part of the department’s efforts to ensure stricter enforcement of traffic rules and maintain vigilance ahead of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26. The distribution of helmets was particularly targeted at two-wheeler users; not only riders but pillion passengers must wear helmets to ensure safety and prevent accidents.
In the coming days, strict action will be taken against bikers riding dangerously on National Highway 6 and heavy motor vehicles like lorries driving in the right lane, which compels other vehicles to overtake (incorrectly) from the left-hand side. This often leads to accidents.
