The senior men selection committee of the Meghalaya Cricket Association has named 15 players and standbys for the BCCI’s U-23 Men State A Trophy 2024-25, a domestic one day tournament.
The Meghalaya squad will be reassessed after the first three matches. The state’s opening game will be against Maharashtra tomorrow. Meghalaya will then play Railways on 17 December and Baroda on 19 December, with all three games taking place in Nagpur.
A preparatory camp for the tournament was held in Jagiroad, Assam, from 2 December.
The squad mirrors that of the Col CK Nayudu Trophy, which is also an U-23 tournament but in multi-day format. Meghalaya lost all of their five matches in that event but there were some notable successes. Abhishek Kumar, a fast bowler, was in the top 60 bowlers by number of wickets (13). Spinner Manish Sharma, meanwhile, had taken 11. In the run-getting department, captain Kevin Christopher was 64th in India with a total of 298 runs, which included a century against Railways in November.
