NEHU Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) Lakhon Kma said that NEHU vice chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla has abused the post of vice chancellor and inflicted so much wounds on the university.
Speaking at a gathering of fasting students, Kma said that it is untenable for Prof. Shukla to enter the campus again.
Kma alleged that Shukla has dented the reputation of Meghalaya as a state and made the university a joke.
In an advice to members of the Executive Council of NEHU who are from outside the university, Kma stated that it has a serious responsibility to execute things inside the institution and hence they were selected based on certain criteria.
“But of late we see that those external members don’t seem to do justice because they see someone sitting in the chair as vice chancellor and their loyalty seems to be only with him, not to the university,” the NEHUTA president said.
He also appreciated the acts of the six deans and the two teachers who rejected the posts of pro vice chancellor stating that they are more concerned about the affairs of the students.
Kma said that Prof. Shukla has undermined the authority of everyone in the university starting from the heads of department and other officials.
He also said that it seemed the vice chancellor and the registrar were saying, “We swim together or sink together since both of them are absconding.”
Kma also said that both are trying to run the university through WhatsApp.
“They are literally trying to convert our university into a WhatsApp university, which we will never allow,” he said.
