The Achik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has urged the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills to facilitate installation of a State Bank of India ATM in Purakhasia market.
Pointing out that the market serves as a central hub for surrounding villages, the organisation said Purakhasia currently has no ATM in the vicinity, which has led to significant inconvenience for local residents, shopkeepers, and daily visitors.
“Purakhasia market witnesses a large footfall daily, as it caters to a wide area with numerous customers relying on cash transactions. The nearest ATM is several kilometers away, which poses a challenge for elderly people, farmers, and business owners who require quick and frequent access to banking facilities. An SBI ATM in Purakhasia market would greatly ease these difficulties and enhance the reach of banking services in our area,” Achik said.
An ATM would not only benefit the community but also increase the visibility and customer base for SBI, a bank widely accepted by the people, it added.
