The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Khliehriat circle has suggested the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) to hold awareness programmes to clear up misunderstanding related to electricity billing.
The organisation led by circle president Michal Chyrmang met with the MePDCL, Moowakhu Executive Engineer M.L Pohshna yesterday with the proposal following complaints of increasing electricity bill from the consumers.
Chyrmang said they were assured that such programmes will be conducted in the villages in coordination with the waheh shnongs.
The FKJGP also suggested the office to set up a help desk for the consumers and on how to pay their bills online, especially for people from the far flung areas, and the need to pay their bills 15-days after receipt of the bill.
