After the success of the overseas nursing job fair, the state government is set to hold another fair in Tura, West Garo Hills on July 26.
The fair, which will be organised by the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) under the Labour Department, has other additions like healthcare, hospitality, sales, customer care, event management, retail management, manufacturing, aviation, IT, construction and logistics.
The job fair will provide opportunities for interested candidates to work across the globe in countries like UK, Japan, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Europe and more.
MSSDS Executive Director Ramkumar S informed that the department has received more than 1,000 registrations. He said the government hold a similar fair in Shillong likely by August.
“The response has been overwhelming and people are willing to go out and work abroad. We want to make this bigger and better. By the end of this year we aim to reach 100 people working abroad and maybe next few years in thousands,” he said.
