The Centre of Medical and Sales Representative Union (CRU), Shillong organised its 2nd Cricket Tournament 2024 from June 15 to June 23 at Lumpyngngad field (Motinagar).
Today witnessed the finals and prize distribution.
Hospital authority, distributors and medical representatives took part in the tournament.
In category A (hospital authority, distributors), the final was played between Aurobindo Pharmaceutical and Dey’s Enterprise. Dey’s won the toss and chose to field, with Aurobindo making 42 from 5 overs, which Dey’s managed to chase down in 4.4 overs and with three wickets in hand. The Player of the Match was Samir Deb, who scored 18 from 8 balls. He was also Player of the Series and Best Batter. The Best Bowler award went to Nintu Paul, who took 5 wickets.
In category B (medical representatives), the final was between Super Giants and Sales United. Super Giants made 66/3 in 6 overs batting first, to which Sales United responded with 51/3 in 6 overs, giving Super Giants victory by 15 runs. The Player of the Match was Mridul Das, who scored 38 from 18 balls. The Player of the Series and Best Batter awards went to Anup Ghosh, while the Best Bowler was Suraj Sharma, who claimed 7 wickets in 5 matches. A Best Catch gong was also awarded to Biplab Paul.
Guests present at the prize distribution ceremony were Meghalaya Cricket Association coach Neetesh Sharma, Shillong Cricket Association (SCA) president Peter Macdonald Kharsawian, SCA secretary Banri Kharmalki, Ridhiraj Talukdar and Rakesh Barman of Sri Balaji Pharmaceuticals and Pinku Dey of Dey’s Enterprise.
