The office of the KVK West Khasi Hills at Nongshillong organised a felicitation programme for farmers yesterday to acknowledge their success through the Doubling Farmers Income (DFI) initiative from 2018 to 2022.
The programme was attended by selected farmer beneficiaries from West and Eastern West Khasi Hills.
In his keynote address Saikat Sinha, Senior Scientist and Head of the KVK West Khasi Hills, extended his well wishes to the hardworking farmers who accomplished the set aim of DFI, urging their further co-operation for the benefit of the farming community to uplift the socio-economic and financial aspects of the districts, a press release said yesterday.
Chief guest J Sohshang, the Sordar of Belkhariang village, acknowledged the valuable contribution of the KVK and requested fellow farmers to heed the scientific and technological instructions and guidance of experts for their livelihood upliftment.
Short testimonials were shared by farmers about their experience of doubling income through KVK interventions. Certificates were presented to the DFI beneficiaries and the programme was concluded with the distribution of critical inputs, including vegetable seeds and fruit tree saplings.
