With the Lok Sabha 2024 election just weeks away, the District Magistrate of South West Khasi Hills has reminded the public that offers of cash, liquor, gift items or free food constitutes bribery. Both the parties that offer and accept such bribes are liable to face prosecution.
Flying squads and surveillance teams have been operationalised to keep a check on such activities during the election period. Members of the public can inform the authorities about such bribery through the district toll-free number 03656296001.
Meanwhile, in North Garo Hills, a control room has been set up in the office of the Deputy Commissioner where any member of the public can seek information regarding the election or make a complaint regarding election matters. The control room can be reached via phone on 18003453757 (toll-free), 9707174320 (mobile phone) or 1950 (BSNL SIM only).
