The new Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, Justice S Vaidyanathan will take oath on February 11.
Justice Vaidyanathan will be administered the oath of office by Governor Phagu Chauhan at the Raj Bhavan here.
The new chief justice who was the judge of Madras High Court will have a short tenure as he will retire in August.
Currently, the office of the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court is vacant following the retirement of Justice Sanjib Banerjee in November last year. Justice Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew was appointed as the acting Chief Justice.
It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court collegium on November 1 has proposed to appoint Justice Vaidyanathan as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.
