Around 35,000 pre-schoolers in Meghalaya will receive the ‘Meghalaya Future Ready Teaching Learning Material (TLM) Kit’, called Jadui Pitara.

This kit has been crafted to foster imaginative play, social role play, fine motor development, free play and sensory motor development among young learners. It comprises of activity sheets, worksheets, flashcards, posters, game boards etc.

The Jadui Pitara aims to revolutionise early childhood education by providing a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. Developed by the Education Department, the kit encourages a holistic approach to a child’s development, focusing on both cognitive and physical aspects.

The kit was officially launched today by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma during a function held to distribute appointment letters to 346 Lower Primary School Teachers at the State Convention Centre here.

The children will be receiving the kit through their LP school teachers once the school commences.

During the programme, the Chief Minister further urged the newly inducted teachers to start their duties with the right mind that as teachers they will not only be imparting education but will be transforming the lives of the children under their care.

He also said that while the government has invested largely on improvement of infrastructures in education it is the human touch that is more important adding, “We have built the buildings and infrastructures but the education will be imparted by you, and you will be building the future of the state and the country so you are the ones who will make the real difference.”

Education Minister, Rakkam A Sangma hoped that the newly appointed teachers will carry out their duties with dedication and commitment and will shoulder the objective and responsibility collectively with the government.”

The minister also cautioned against the practice of proxy teachers as it damaging to a child’s academic development and compromises on quality education.
