Taxation Minister Kyrmen Shylla today informed that the Taxation Department is looking for ways to keep track of revenue collection.

According to him, one of the ways is to monitor the leakages from liquor and keep track of revenue collection through computerisation.

Shylla informed that at present the Taxation Department has not detected any leakage.

“By introducing computerisation if there is a leakage we will be able to find out and if not also we will be able to understand the revenue collected,” he said.

Stating that the move for computerisation is still in the pipeline since it has to be taken to the cabinet for approval, Shylla said that computerisation would also need financial support.

“If it comes through with no complications, then the implementation will be a smooth process. Our vision is that every financial year we want to increase the revenue,” he added.

Asked about the State government’s decision to legalise homemade wine, Shylla said it has been a good initiative and has helped many local fruit wine makers in the State.

“We have received good feedback and we will try to fulfill if any support is needed. Our vision is to become one of the biggest wine suppliers in India. The State government will give a free hand to those who want to take wine making. From our end we can provide them with the licence and required paper works,” Shylla said.
