The headman of Lumdaitkhla Bhoirymbong, ST Rympei, has demanded an apology from STIEH president Purity Phawa within 24 hours for allegedly violating his privacy.
The demand stems from the recent disclosure of a recorded conversation, in which they discussed the government’s decision to conclude the Cherry Blossom Festival on a Sunday.
STIEH is one of the organisations that has virulently opposed this, as Sunday is the Christian day of rest.
Speaking to reporters today, Rympei expressed his dismay at Phawa’s decision to share the call recording without his consent, which he views as a violation of his privacy. The recording has since been widely disseminated, especially on various social media platforms.
The Cherry Blossom Festival will be held this year at Madan Kurkalang, which falls under Lumdaitkhla Bhoirymbong. It will commence on November 17 and conclude on November 19.
Phawa had contacted Rympei over the phone to inquire whether the dorbar shnong would oppose the government’s decision to hold the festival on a Sunday. Phawa recorded the discussion and subsequently shared it with the public.
The headman said that if he fails to receive an apology in the stated time, he may pursue legal action against Phawa.
