In the run up to the general elections of the Garo Students Union (GSU), Williamnagar Eastern Zone a meeting of the election commissioners of the union was held in Williamnagar.
The meeting was conducted by the Chief Election Commissioner Semion Sangma, who is also the former Williamnagar GSU president yesterday.
Sangma highlighted on the need to constitute the body with participation from locals and students within the town. “Williamnagar is the place where every leader tries to maintain purity in any form of mutuality such as non-tribals are strictly restrained from voting. In keeping such purity of Williamnagar we must untimely stand tall to protect from bringing the dirty game,” a press release today said.
Views and comments from a number colleges and school students, lecturers and teachers have also been taken so that the newly elected body of the GSU would leave valuable footprints for the next generation, it said.
Caretaker of the GSU, Alkullin T. Sangma said that the poll date will soon be declared while setting up of election officer bearers, observers and paper works will be initiated by the election commissioners.
