Students of the College of Community Science in Tura attended lectures on career opportunities in their chosen stream led by two former deans of the college.
The lectures were attended by 94 undergraduate students and college faculty. Rita Singh Raghuvanshi, the founding dean of the college, took a session on ‘Career and Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Community Science’ where she detailed community science as a professional course – talking about its mission and nature, community needs, scope, and utility.
Raghuvanshi also talked at length about the interdisciplinary approach of community science, the areas of further specialisations and its linkage with government ministries and non-government organisations.
Krishna Sheela, the longest-serving dean of the college, complemented the points of Raghuvanshi and gave a brief lecture on ‘Exploring Job Opportunities for Community Science Students – The Way Forward’.
She emphasised the important roles played by the placement cell in availing opportunities for graduates of community science and also expounded on the changes in qualification requirements for jobs in the current scenario.
