The State will not bulldoze and force railway projects if communities have concerns against it, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said.
Speaking to reporters today he said this was communicated to the centre since concerns needs to be addressed before taking up the railway project.
He reiterated that funds earmarked for railway projects in the state could be shifted to other areas where people are willing to accept the project.
The Byrnihat-Shillong railway line project remained a non-starter due to the opposition from the pressure groups.
On whether the government will conduct a study on the impact of influx into the state, the Chief Minister said that “influx is a big deal and not a study” but the government is open to a discussion if a study is to be made.
