The Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) is unsatisfied with the constitution of the expert committee that has been appointed by the state government to look at the state’s job reservation policy and roster system.
KHNAM vice-president Thomas Passah told Highland Post today that “We as a party are not very satisfied with the constitution of the expert committee. But most of the political parties have agreed to the decision so there is nothing we can do.”
He said that the committee has been entrusted with the job to verify the legal stands of the proposals submitted by the various political parties but not to consider a review of the policy.
Stating that political parties have been told to go back and conduct a meeting at the party level and then put forward points for review with justification, Passah said, “We, as a party, before making review demands have already had a meeting at a party level. We have analysed the points required for amendment/review and we have placed it before the committee meeting yesterday and we stand by it. Therefore we do not need to have a meeting at the party level again.”
He added that the same proposal by KHNAM will be sent to the committee again.
