The State cabinet will meet here tomorrow to discuss the vexed issue of job reservation policy and roster system and to give a final shape to the presentation on the issue that will be given to political parties and civil society leaders in the meetings that will be held later this week.
The cabinet meeting comes in the backdrop of the call for sit-in demonstration by the Voice of the People (VPP) at the Additional Secretariat parking lot here tomorrow in protest against the failure by the State government to concede to the demand for putting on hold all job recruitments in the government till the quota policy and roster system were reviewed by an export committee.
Allies of the ruling MDA coalition will also meet on May 18 on the issue. A meeting of all political parties will be held on May 19 where the State government would give its presentation on the various aspects of the reservation policy and roster system.
“The government is preparing a very detailed presentation and once the presentation is seen, I’m very sure everybody would be clear as to what it is and everybody’s doubts would be clear,” Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said today.
He also said that a meeting with leaders of the civil society which include pressure groups, church leaders and local headmen would be held next week where they will be explained in detail about the reservation policy and roster system.
“Roster is very complicated. It is a very simple thing but to understand it is very complicated. Political parties can say what they want to say but the government has to follow the procedures in all aspects,” Sangma said.
