The state government has transferred 13 senior police officers through an order dated today.
The most senior police officer affected is IPS officer Rituraj Ravi, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, who has been transferred from Shillong to head the 6th Meghalaya Police (MLP) Battalion in Umran, Ri-Bhoi, as Commandant.
The incumbent Commandant, Lakador Syiem, has been transferred as the new Commandant of the 4th MLP Battalion in Sohpian. He will have Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor as his deputy; Kharkongor was formerly Additional Superintendent of Police in West Jaintia Hills.
The incumbent Deputy Commandant of the 4th Battalion, Orville Isaac Massar, has been transferred as Deputy Commandant of the 6th Battalion under Ravi.
Kharkongor’s place in Jowai will be taken by VD Sangahiwot Rymbai, the incumbent Additional SP of Eastern West Khasi Hills.
Rymbai’s replacement in EWKH will be Pyrkhatlang Suchiang, previously the Additional SP of West Garo Hills.
Meanwhile, Donkupar Moksha, the Deputy SP of EWKH has been transferred to West Khasi Hills where he will serve in the same role. He replaces Banteilang Kharjana, who has been made Assistant Commandant of the 6th Battalion.
Gilbert A Lyngdoh Marshillong, the Deputy SP (Traffic) of Ri-Bhoi has been made Assistant Commandant of the 3rd Battalion in Sahbsein.
Dathmuskhem Nongpluh, the SDPO of Amlarem, has been shifted to Nongstoin to replace Moksha as Deputy SP.
Pherbak Singh Marwein, the SDPO of Mawshynrut, has been transferred to Ri-Bhoi where he will be the Deputy SP (Crime). He will be replaced in Mawshynrut by Isaac S Marak, who was until now the Assistant Commandant of the 4th Battalion.
Finally, Jubiraj Rabha, the Assistant Commandant of the 3rd Battalion has been moved to Ri-Bhoi to act as the new Deputy SP (Traffic).
