The Chairman of the State Planning Board, and Mairang MLA, Metbah Lyngdoh, said today that his appointment is not a sinecure at all but a real chance to give back to the state.
Although it is often thought of as a way to reward allies or compensate those not included in the cabinet, Lyngdoh, who held the high office of Speaker of the Assembly from 2018 to 2023, said that there is more to the board than the perks and privileges that come with the job.
The planning board held its first meeting here today. It will only swing into action, its Chairman said, once its full fledged members and experts from line departments are appointed.
