Police in Ri-Bhoi have arrested two men on suspicion of being behind a heinous murder that took place earlier this month.
Elius Ryndong, originally reported as being 70 years old but now revised to 60, was murdered on his family’s agricultural property at Pahammawlein on March 9 with brutal injuries to his head.
Police today announced the arrest of two persons in connection with the crime. Ri-Bhoi Superintendent of Police Giri Prasad informed today that the duo has been identified as Prince Abraham Sylliang (35) and Sushil Kurbah (72). Sylliang hails from Pahammawlein, while Kurbah is from Umdap Duki. They were arrested yesterday evening.
The arrests were made based on the statements of available witnesses, inputs from sources and available evidence. Sylliang and Kurbah will be forwarded to the concerned court for the crime.
The murder was also raised today in the Assembly by Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem, who called the gruesome slaying an act of barbarism.
