Till date, the opening balance for JJM in Meghalaya was Rs 420.52 crore. The fund allocated was Rs 747.76 crore and fund drawn was Rs 747.76 crore. The total amount of available funds is Rs 1,168.28 crore.
The reported utilisation of funds under JJM in Meghalaya is Rs 879.57 crore and the expenditure under State share amounted to Rs 98.10 crore.
In 2022-23, the Central fund allocated to Meghalaya under JJM was Rs 747.76 crore.
Since August, 2019, JJM, a centrally sponsored scheme, is being implemented in partnership with states, to make provision of potable tap water supply, on regular and long-term basis, to every rural household of the country by 2024.
Under JJM, states and union territories prepared their ‘State Action Plan’, projecting year-wise target of household connections. In the beginning of each financial year, the Annual Action Plan (AAPs) for the implementation of JJM is firmed up by every State and union territory based on a detailed consultative process for implementation of JJM with speed and also ensuring optimal utilisation of funds.
After approval of the AAPs, the allocation for a State is decided as per allocation criteria. Based on availability of suitable proposals and utilisation reported by the State, central grants-in-aid are released to the states.
Further, the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation undertakes annual assessment of the functionality of household tap water connections provided under the JJM, through an independent third-party agency, based on standard statistical sampling.
