East Khasi Hills and Tura District Cricket Association registered resounding victories in their respective matches of the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s U-15 Inter District Cricket Tournament 2023 today.
In Umbuda, Ri-Bhoi, EKH defeated East Jaintia Hills by an innings and 236 runs in Zone 1, while TDCA beat West Khasi Hills in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills, by 246 runs in Zone 2.
Yesterday, EKH had made 301/9 declared and EJH were 28/8 in their first innings at stumps. The last two wickets fell for no additional runs and EJH were made to follow-on but they could only make 37 in their second innings. Nangsan Shaphrang Kynter shone with the ball in the second innings, taking 4/10, while Damechwa Khongsngi bagged 3/7. The best match figures were 6/9 (4/3 and 2/6) by EKH’s Mebansiewdor Kharshanoi.
In the other match, WKH resumed their second innings today on 23/6, 268 runs away from victory. Yesterday, TDCA had made 196/10 and 200/2 declared while WKH had managed 106 all out in their first innings.
Tura did not let their opponents settle in today and dismissed them for 44. Only two bowlers were utilised by TDCA in the second innings – Manthan Gupta (6/5) and Kein Hagio R Marak (4/35). With a first innings haul of 3/23 (and thus match figures of 9/28), Gupta was named Player of the Match.
Tomorrow, Shillong Cricket Association-B will take on Ri-Bhoi in Zone 1, while East Garo Hills will face North Garo Hills in Zone 2.
