The state government has wasted precious time in not completing the two medical colleges that have been allotted to Meghalaya by the central government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary Rituraj Sinha said today.
Keeping the Shillong and Tura facilities pending has continued to mean that local students have to travel outside the state to pursue their medical education, Sinha said, describing the situation as “shameful”.
Stating that Assam (which is ruled by the BJP) has five new medical colleges, Sinha lamented that even with the support Meghalaya got, these development projects never saw the light of the day.
“We promise that if the BJP government is formed in Meghalaya, within 30 months both medical colleges will be operationalised,” he claimed.
