The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has committed to revive the state morally, intellectually and materially and to transform it into a model state for the rest of India.
The party led by former Nongkrem legislator Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit released its manifesto with 10-point vision for the State at Sweet Home Guest House in Motinagar, Shillong.
Promising to transform the state in the social, economic, political and cultural life of the people with its principle of clean politics, the party promises to make Meghalaya a state that is territorially secured and economically developed where poverty is eliminated.
The manifesto also assures a strong and decisive leadership and that public safety and peace will prevail to facilitate the state’s overall development.
The VPP said it aims to base politics on strong pillars of substantive democracy with essential features of rule of law, transparency, accountability, responsibility and equity.
The party said that the resources of the state will be sustainably used and distributed equitably based on social justice while the traditional land ownership system will maintained and strengthened.
Pointing out that the environment and the eco system will be restored and preserved it also promised to make Meghalaya an investment-friendly state, to empower youth morally and intellectually capable of competing with the rest of the world and a state where gender equity prevails.
VPP has fielded 18 candidates in the upcoming polls.
