BSF Meghalaya rescued 29 cattle from the international border of East Khasi Hills that were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh yesterday.
Acting on a specific tip-off, the BSF said troops stationed at a mobile check post in Nongshken area and seized the cattle while being taken towards international boundary by smugglers.
Smugglers fled from the spot leaving the cattle behind the BSF said, adding, cattle are often hidden in the forest area and attempts are made by smugglers to cross them through unfenced patches during the night.
