The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) has announced that the exams for recruitment of over 200 nursing officers will be conducted in Shillong only for candidates hailing from Meghalaya.

In a notification issued today the institute said that in view of the prevailing situation between Assam and Meghalaya, candidates from Meghalaya who are not able to reach and appear for the examination the date will be rescheduled for them in Shillong.

“Only the candidates from Meghalaya appearing for the Online Computer Based Nursing Officer’s Recruitment Examination to be held on Friday, 2nd December, 2022 at eight (08) centres in Guwahati and Jorhat, Assam are informed that in case they are not able to reach and appear for the said examination in Guwahati, the examination shall be rescheduled to a later date at Shillong, Meghalaya only for them,” the institute said.

For all other candidates, however, the examination shall proceed as per scheduled, at all other centres in India.

Candidates can send their response immediately at  helpdesk.neigrihms@gmail.com, the Director said.

The Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People met Health Minister James Sangma to apprise him about the problems faced by candidates who will appear for the recruitment to the post of nursing officer and staff nurse in NEIGRIHMS. However, the minister was not able to help on the matter as the examination date is near.

BJP MLA and former Health Minister AL Hek today said that the state leaders have taken up the matter with the Chief Minister of Assam.

Informing that the party took the step after some of the students who are supposed to appear for the said examination at Guwahati met them, Hek said, “We apprised the CM of Assam that the centre for the examination is going to be held at Guwahati, which is very difficult for our students to come from Shillong because of the prevailing situations after the Mukroh incident.”
