The State government has revised the rates of minimum wages with effect October 1.
The revised rate for unskilled workers is Rs 381, semi-skilled Rs. 432, skilled Rs. 483 and highly-skilled Rs 534-.
Those covered under the revised rates are those workers in agriculture, construction and maintenance of buildings including public health engineering, etc.; stone crushing and breaking operations; construction, generation and distribution of powers, water supply, land development excavation and reclamation; sericulture and weaving; fruit preservation; soil conservation; animal husbandry and veterinary; forest; local authority; public motor transport; saw mill; plywood industry; motor workshops; furniture industry; bakery; shops and establishment; printing press; sales, distribution and handling of petroleum products; steel fabrication and concrete products including brick making; tailoring; wax and candle industry; hotels and restaurants; mines and minerals; safai karamcharis; employment in registered factories not elsewhere classified; employment under government authority (casual contingency employee); domestic workers and security guard.
