The office of the District Sports Officer of West Khasi Hills, in collaboration with the District Sports Promotion Society of West Khasi Hills District, today organised the Fit India Freedom Run 3.0 as part of the celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in Mairang.
The 8km race began at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Eastern West Khasi Hills and was flagged off by the Additional DC, A Nongbri.
There were 65 male and female runners. The men’s event was won by Shainingstar Marwein, with Mebansainborlang Pathaw and Rahjopkordor Lyngdoh second and third respectively. First prize in the women’s race was secured by Balasiewdor Pathaw, with Mebarisha Lyngdoh and Ibashongkun Kurbah second and third respectively.
The winners each received Rs 5,000, with Rs 3,000 going to the second-placed finishers and Rs 2,000 to those who came third.
