A farmers’ field day was organised by the Central Silk Board, P-3 Unit, MESSO, Rompara, Resubelpara yesterday.
Mahashankar Majumdar, Scientist-C, MESSO, P-4 Unit, Mendipathar presided over the programme.
Davinson Marak, Senior Technical Assistant, P-3 Unit, Rompara welcomed the guests and explained about the objective of holding this programme.
After that Dr. Vikram Kumar, Scientist-B and in-charge of the unit inaugurated the field day programme and described about the positive aspect of muga rearing and how it is important for social and cultural uplift.
In his speech, Majumdar explained about extension procedure in sericulture and how it works for transfer of technology from lab to land and finally how farmers of sericulture got benefited through this extension activity.
A total of 30 participants from North Garo Hills District were present during the programme. An interaction also took place between scientists and farmers during the programme and farmers were enlightened on various issues related to sericulture at the programme.
