A conclave on NEP 2020 was organised by the Rotary Club Shillong Heritage to commemorate its monthly focus on basic education and literacy.
The conclave was held at the Asian Confluence Conference Hall on September 17 under the theme, ‘NEP 2020: From Vision to Reality’ which aims to serve as a platform to facilitate an interaction between policy makers and stakeholders at the ground.
Organiser said that the theme was chosen keeping in mind that the country as a whole and north-eastern region in particular is in the midst of a strenuous churning on the implementation of the new education policy by engaging with themes such as vernacularity, multi disciplinarity, professional and vocational education, indigenous knowledge system and the principle of multiple entry and exit policy.
The conclave witnessed presentations from the resource persons which include Prof Brinda Bazeley Kharbirymbai from the Department of Education NEHU, Dr Careleen Kharmalki, Assistant Professor, DERT, Rtn. Abhijit Sharma, Mission Director, School of Livelihood and Rural Development, Dr Sima Saigal, Associate Professor NCERT- NERIE and Prof H. Srikant of Political Science, NEHU and social commentator.
The presentation was followed by an interaction between the resource persons and the audience which included a number of school and college teachers and principals.
The conclave was supported by the Rotary District Literacy Chair (DLC) and was inaugurated by the Advisor DLC, Prof. Bibhash Chandra Das Purkayastha.
