The Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CoRP) today celebrated its 25th anniversary with a host of political bigwigs in attendance.
The chief guest at the function at Umsning was Speaker of the Assembly Metbah Lyngdoh. Others in attendance were cabinet minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, Umroi MLA George Lyngdoh, Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem and Umsning MLA Jason Sawkmie Mawlong. The founder president of CoRP, Dorister Sulein, was also present.
CoRP was formed in 1996 with the betterment of the people of Ri-Bhoi its sole concern.
Lyngdoh lauded the confederation for its achievements and said that the organisation had to endure many hurdles and hardships but was able to serve the people thanks to the sincerity and sacrifices of its leaders.
During the celebration, appreciation awards and mementos were handed over to the special invitees and the well-known persons of Ri-Bhoi for their contribution towards the betterment of the society. Lyngdoh also released the silver jubilee souvenir.
