The Chief Executive Member of the KHADC, Titosstarwell Chyne, has maintained inquiry reports into various issues should be made public so that the violators can be punished according to the law.
“We have seen in the past years that inquiries by various agencies are without results or reports, so the most important thing is to see that the reports are made public and that the violators are punished as per the law,” Chyne told reporters yesterday.
On the issue of illegal coal, the CEM said that there is a widespread belief in the public that so-called ‘high levels’, those with connections to the government, are profiting through illicit mining.
“I think the law should take its own course and there should be no interference from the people in power,” Chyne said, adding that the issue is a serious one as there is great loss of revenue to the state exchequer and district councils.
