The central government has put a halt to the implementation of Border Area Development Programme (BADP) schemes, BAD minister Lahkmen Rymbui said, not the state government.
The Centre has instructed all states along India’s international borders to halt the scheme until a review is carried out by the central government by September.
Mawsynram MLA Himalaya Shangpliang blamed the state government for dragging its heels in the implementation of BADP projects.
“The state government has done all the things required but the government of India, in April this year, issued a letter to Chief Secretaries of border states that the scheme should not be implemented and no new sanction of schemes will take place until September,” Rymbui said.
Shangpliang alleged that it was due to the non-submission of utilisation certificates by the state government to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs that the sanction for BADP projects was halted.
