State TMC president Charles Pyngrope has said that youth should enter politics and fight elections for a change.
Pointing out that there is a dearth of educated and young candidates willing to contest elections, Pyngrope observed that those in the age group of 30 should be the generation to rule the state.
He said he entered politics when he was 42-years-old and was a minister, which he felt is actually old.
“There is something that is acting as a deterrent. Many of the younger generation are not coming out to take our place. This should change and they should come out,” he said.
Pyngrope said many a time he was questioned if finance is important. “I have always told them that try without money to contest elections and not to think about finance as necessary… You never know what you’re trying to do if you’re sincere people will follow you… It is a small percentage of population who will vote for you if given the perks and facilities. Not everybody wants that so that is how the approach should be,” he added.
