Representatives of the Seng Samla Border Area Raid Nongtung Block 2 areas today handed over a list of needs and demands to the Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner.
According to the memorandum, the youth organisation expressed concern over the poor condition of roads in the area, especially the 2km Mawlasnai-Jatalong Road, which was constructed in 2015-16.
The DC was also told that solar streetlights are needed in villages such as Umsohlaper, which has 52 households, and Sabuda, which is twice as big.
The Seng Samla also sought for immediate intervention of the district administration towards the unauthorised installation of electricity poles by the Assam Government at Sabuda and Jatalong villages, which are along the disputed border with the neighbouring state.
