Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today said that the government intends to have talent identification in different sectors like Music, Science and Technology etc.
“The government will facilitate the nurturing and growing of these talents in different sectors so that our children can be among the best in the world,” he said.
Speaking at the talent identification programme at St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong the chief minister said that the scientific approach of the identification of sport talents there will be a positive improvement in the sports sector in the years to come.
Stating that the spadework for the development of Sports should be laid early in life, he said, “We realized that the nurturing of the minds and talents of a child begins early.”
He added that the government needs to ensure to come up with the right policies and programmes to be able to shape and identify the young minds and talents so that they become successful later in life in the sports or discipline that they have a potential in.
The State Talent Identification 2022 is being organised by the Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) and the Sports and Youth Affairs department and implemented by Edge 10 Group.
The programme was also attended by Commissioner, Sports & Youth Affairs, Dr Vijay Kumar and members of the MSOA.
