A training programme on imparting knowledge and hands-on skills to government employees on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children and infants was held here today in observance of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) National CPR Day on the theme ‘Each can save a life’.
Held in commemoration of the birth anniversary of the late Dr Anand Shandilya, the programme was organized by the IAP Meghalaya State Branch and IAP CPR Centre at Nazareth Hospital, Shillong.
In a brief address, Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Sampath Kumar, reiterated the importance of preventive healthcare and stressed on the importance of physical activity for overall health.
During the training participants were given hands-on experience on how to save a life in case they witness a sudden cardiac arrest by administering CPR.
