Mawhati MDC Charles Marngar attacked the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council’s executive committee for being ignorant of Ri-Bhoi cultural dances.
In a supplementary question asked by Nongstoiñ MDC Gabriel Wahlang, on the role and activities of the KHADC’s Arts and Culture Department, Marngar said that there are numerous traditional dances in Ri-Bhoi and other areas but the council does not have the names of these, apart from a few common ones. He described this state of affairs as a disgrace.
As part of his response, the Executive Member in charge, Victor Rani, informed that the EC has asked the various Himas for writeups and information for the various items that will be displayed in the 11 traditional huts at the Khasi Heritage Village at Mawphlang.
