The East Khasi Hills unit of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has lampooned the National People’s Party (NPP) and its spokesperson Bajop Pyngrope for the level of indignation regarding comments made against the ruling party and Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
In a press release today, East Khasi Hills TMC district coordinator Dominic S Wankhar said that corruption under the present government has reached the brim.
Two days ago, TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee quipped that Meghalaya is tired of ‘Conman’ Sangma, to which Pyngrope took offence.
“Political mudslinging and criticism is all part of any democracy and public discourse on issues affecting the masses is an important factor,” Wankhar said. “Dissent and criticism has always been the foundation of this nation’s Constitution, so in a democratic society everyone has that constitutional right to express themselves.”
He also said that the NPP legislators are guilty of “inept handling and mismanaging the state without any direction or proper road map.”
