Mid-day meal workers who are yet to receive their pending dues have once again urged the State government to work on releasing their honorarium before the Behdeiñkhlam festival.
The workers under the banner of the All Jaiñtia Mid Day Meal Worker Union have been waiting for their pending dues, which have not been for the period April to June, 2022.
“The cooks cum helpers of Niamtre faithful of Jaiñtia Hills region will have something to contribute to the joy and happiness of their children and family during the Behdeinkhlam festival,” the union in a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today appealed.
The union also called on the CM to release the honorarium before any celebration of major festivals of all religions in the state in the future, for them to be able to celebrate like any other citizens.
The annual Behdeiñkhlam Festival is scheduled to be celebrated from July 11 in the Jaiñtia Hills region.
