Members of the Mylliem Assembly Youth Congress (MAYC) today undertook repair of the Umdiengpun road in Upper Shillong.
The members were led by president, Pynsuklang Nongkhlaw with the sole aim to ease travelling of people who had suffered due to neglect shown.
The MAYC members said that the road has been in deplorable condition for months but totally ignored by authority concerned.
“The repair work took less than an hour but it has relieved thousands of vehicles passing through this portion of the road and ease the traffic snarl caused by the extremely pathetic condition and potholes,” they said.
Meanwhile passerby also appreciated the repair works done.
The stretch lies near the Eastern Air Command and people from various areas in East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills are regular commuters through it.
Rain waters had clogged the pot-hole ridden road giving travellers a bumpy ride.
