Out of 57,371 students who appeared for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination, 32,678 came out with flying colours taking the percentage to 56.96.
The result which was declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) said that there is an increase of 4.06 per cent after a gap of five years.
The pass percentage in 2021 was 52.90, 50.31 in 2020, 55.72 in 2019 and 56.76 in 2018.
Unlike the previous years, a nondescript school, St.Paul’s School in Marbisu under Mawphlang subdivision was at the top this year, as its student Amebaaihunsha Kharbhih scored 575 marks. She shared the position with a private candidate, Arghadeep Saha.
The second position was shared by Menangmankhraw Kharkongor of St. Anthony’s HS School and Rilaakor Lamare of Auxilium Girls HS School and Arghadeep Ghosh of Sherwood School, Tua bagged the third position.
Four other private candidates also found place in the top twenty merit list that included Ianehskhem Lyndem and Biambong A Sangma( sharing 11th rank) Sohan Thapa ( 15th position) and Tofany Suchiang (19).
In the HSSLC Arts stream result, an overall pass percentage of 81.17 per cent was recorded by the board this year. A total of 22,711 students appeared for the exams and out of which 18,434 students passed the exams successfully.
Ramyank Nilabh Chakraborty of Don Bosco College (Higher Secondary Section), Tura scored the first rank across the state by securing 460 marks followed by Bahunlang Mawrie of Auxilium Girls HS School, Shillong in the second position with 450 marks and Vijay Adhikari of St.Anthony’s HS School, Shillong in the third with 436 marks.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma took to Twitter to congratulate the students. “Many congratulations to the students who passed with flying colours in the SSLC and HSSLC (Arts stream) MBOSE examinations. May you soar high in the direction of your dreams and may you achieve great things in the future,” he tweeted.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui also congratulated the students and said that he was glad the pass percentage is the highest in the last five years.
“Congratulations to the Students who passed their SSLC & HSSLC Exam 2022. To the rank holders continue to work hard. Those who didn’t meet their expectations continue to aspire for success. Glad that the pass percentage is the highest in the last 5 years,” stated Rymbui.
