Congress chief, Vincent H Pala has likened coalition partners of the NPP-led MDA government to servants of the BJP working towards pulling the State downhill.
“They (PDF, UDP and HSPDP) are the servants of the BJP, who want us us to stay illiterate and poor so that they can dominate us in whatever ways they want,” Pala said.
He stated that the BJP is trying to penetrate the state by establishing schools that will later be taught only subjects of their liking. “The MDA government is totally blind to this because they are mere puppet of the BJP,” he added.
Pala said the NPP-led MDA government is in debt from the various loans it has taken, the Congress chief said the party has resorted to extortion. “They are extorting from people to buy leaders but they will never be able to buy the voice of the people,” he said, adding, “Instead of making the state an education hub, the MDA government is trying to change everything for the worst and make it an alcohol and gambling hub.”
Pala who was in Mawkynrew to welcome the party candidate, Kansing Lynshiang, exuded confidence that the party will rise once again stating, “People kept on saying that the Congress is disintegrated. But have rebuilt our party to remain stable in years to come and other political parties will be running from pillar to post to find stability,” Pala said.
He said the Congress will take away the Mawkynrew seat and other seats in the next election he said that the 2023 polls is between the rich and the poor and the farmers. “People’s voice will triumph,” he said.
Congress Working president PN Syiem said that congress is strong enough to break the walls of MDA.
Stating that the state is under a plague under the MDA rule, he said residents in the border areas are in tears of losing lands to Assam, farmers are awarded Rs 100 for the destruction caused by Mother Nature which is an insult, and people are suffering.
Syiem said the ill omens and incidents are testimonies that the MDA fall is inevitable. He mocked that the present government has to be reminded on everything by the High Court even simple tasks like garbage issue of Jowai.
Meanwhile, Lynshiang recalled hardships of the people of Mawkynrew during the Covid-19 induced lockdown and natural calamities.
“I have seen the hardships and the plight of farmers, drivers, and the poor people of our constituency during the lockdown. Mawkynrew needs a congress candidate who is from the constituency itself. We need policymakers and not roof tins distributors and leaders controlled by non-Khasi bureaucrats,” he said.
Stating that people have become slaves under the MDA rule he said he does not have contractors and businessmen as his supporters but the farmers and the poor.
